On this blog's original intention

This is the beginning of a little experiment in the history of the web and an adventure that I have been looking to embark on. I, Dan Grice, will venture into the world of communication with a series of media rich postings. For anyone such as myself who has abandoned the mainstream media and prefers the world of independent content rich sites, you will understand my frustration with finding enough quality sources of news and opinion. There are plenty of blogs out there and news sites, but in order to enjoy them you have usually been limited to reading excessive amounts of text. As soon as I nail down my video workflow, I hope to change this by broadcasting a bit of myself. It will probably begin with some preset speeches and existing comment, but hopefully I will get a regular commentary on politics, art, technology, society, and any other topic that hits my mind.

Eventually, I have plans to open more of a multimedia portal and am working, slowly but surely, to take the lessons I learn in vlogging/vodcasting to more of an citywide knowledge site. I will be looking for others to help me carry forward with this eventually, but I’m sure the launch is a while off. I really think that video on demand, or pushed video via rss feeds is going to be the future of broadcasting, and it would be neat to get a good grasp on it. I know video has been around on the web forever, but only now has the bandwidth become suitable for true video portals. The browser will become a digital podium, and why not climb upon it.

Now, I hope no one minds if I also use this podium to throw out ideas regarding societal organization and current events. I won’t be right on all of them, but some may have a little bit of forward thought which others may fine interesting.
